From 12 November to 19 December, 2025, students and staff of Politecnico di Milano and Università di Bergamo will take part in the joint challenge “Bike to Uni” by tracking their home-to-university and vice versa trips made by bicycle or scooter.
To take part in the initiative, participants simply need to download the Wecity app, enter the initiative code, and activate route tracking. This is a concrete way to help make our cities more livable and healthier, with positive impacts on both psychological and physical wellbeing.
The Bike to Uni challenge is an initiative developed within the framework of the PNRR MOST- National Center for Sustainable Mobility, promoted by Politecnico di Milano and Università di Bergamo, in collaboration with Wecity, the Italian sustainable mobility platform. Walking or biking/scootering to campus – whenever possible – turns your daily commute into a small but powerful act of sustainability.
Each valid trip will contribute to the overall ranking – shared by both Universities and updated in real time via app – rewarding the most consistent participants, both in terms of number of days cycling and kilometers travelled. The app will also provide information on the CO2 emissions avoided for each trip.
The top 10 participants will be rewarded with a bicycle helmet. Those ranked between 11th and 25th place will receive a pair of shoe covers, while those ranked between 26th and 150th place will be rewarded with a set of bicycle lights.
Incentives will be distributed within three months of the project’s end, during a final event hosted at the two Universities’ Campuses. On this occasion, the results, including avoided emissions, will be shared with the public, along with participants’ testimonials on how to improve engagement in similar initiative in the future.
We would also remind you that 77 routes to and from the Politecnico di Milano Campuses have been identified by expert cyclists. Where possible, for each destination three types of routes have been identified: the fastest/most direct route; the one with the less vehicular traffic; and the one with the most extensive use of cycle paths.
